Openings, Closings, and Such
- Closing
- Malo closes on April 27th. This surprised nearly the entire city. I’ve yet to see a reason for the closure.
- Des Fresh closes on April 28th. As written, it seems they have future food plans.
- Moved
- Jenny Lee’s Kitchen has a new home in Dallas Center. I’ll be making that drive.
- Coming Soon
- The owners of Street Eats DSM sold their truck. It will reopen.
- Ta’Chido Cantina is adding a kitchen.
- Bits and Bobs
- Gems, Guides, and Goodies is coming May 1st! Subscribe now!
- Thistle’s Summit announced a project called Sunday Service. That’s all I know.
- I got to write about chai!
- Rumor has it all three St. Kilda locations are for sale . . .
- These things are saving my ears and sanity in loud restaurants.
- Jeremy Jessen . . . chef . . . please know your food is missed.
- Chain News
- Dave’s Hot Chicken will eventually make it here.
- Fat Putter is opening downtown and will presumably have bar food.
- The Joy of Food
- Is this you and your ADHD? Because it’s me and my ADHD.
- Still one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.
- A loved one compared my approach to food to that of the late Anthony Bourdain, and I’m not sure I’ve had a better compliment. I know I’m nowhere near Bourdain’s genius, but I do strive to be as courageous as he was. If you’ve never read any of his books, do it. Better yet, listen to the audio books.
- Oh! I’m trying to get rid of my Audible membership, and I have a copy of Bourdain’s Medium Raw. When I’m done with it, I can gift it to whomever wants it. Just comment below!
- MMMBap Korean has their menu displayed. They aren’t quite open yet, but I wanted to share what I saw.
WTF, Des Moines?
- Gwen got paid, and my mind hasn’t changed on her former business partners. Speaking of which, I really need to get to Whatcha Smokin’!
- Honeychild, your BF is quite sane.
- Who else spends more money dining out when it isn’t freezing outside? Our food budget is unhappy.
