Openings, Closings, and Such
- Reopened
- Dogpatch Urban Gardens has reopened for the season.
- Coming Soon
- Table 128’s opening date is now said to be toward the end of this month.
- The Handlebar is reopening on April 18th. Dallas-Center is beyond my normal range, but Jenny Symonds of Jenny Lee’s Korean-American Kitchen is now a “co-owner and executive chef.”
- Bits and Bobs
- I’m convinced ADHD and recipes do not mix. Pardon the pun?
- Crème announced in their newsletter that they will soon have boba tea and a reusable boba cup program.
- Reyes Tamales will be operating out of Moxie.
- Gems, Guides, and Goodies is coming May 1st! Subscribe now!
- Chips and dip IN THE SAME BOWL.
- I got to write about chai!
- The food world can sometimes throw you for a loop. We lunched at a place I’ve been itching to try, and we were disappointed and underwhelmed. That same day, we unexpectedly dined in the Iowa City area at Maggie’s Farm wood-fired pizza, and hell yeah! Damn near perfection!
WTF, Des Moines?
- The Whiskey River saga continues. This time, a former employee is suing for wrongful termination. Why is it that a guy who claims he was going back to his “peaceful” area in Ankeny has a “never call the cops” policy?
- Was Indira unprofessional? Yes. Does that matter? FUCKING NO.
‘Twas an extremely quiet week for food news. Des Moines is gearing up for festival season. Brace yourself for the constantly closed streets downtown.
